Founded in 1974, Meals On Wheels Gorey & Courtown is a community based volunteer group providing an essential service which aims to support independent living through nutritional and social support. It enables elderly or assisted needs individuals who require the service to maintain good health and independent living in their own homes, by providing nutritious meals, a wellcheck and social interaction.

The service is a critical component of the continuum of care services that enable older people to remain living in the community or to return to their own homes after hospitalisation.

Meals On Wheels Gorey & Courtown strengthens the wider community by providing opportunities for people to work, volunteer and help within their communities The service is supported by a dedicated group of volunteers who assist in the delivery of meals on a rota basis. Our trusted, friendly deliverers monitor the health and wellbeing of our service users and provide peace of mind for their family members.

At a time when people are finding themselves isolated and things are becoming more impersonal, Meals On Wheels wants to develop a sense of security amongst those in the community that may feel alone and isolated.
